Dear Parents/Carers

Parent Academy Councillor Vacancy

We have a vacancy for a parent member of our school Academy Council. Academy
Councillors are the team of people who help hold the school to account and are involved
in the future strategic direction of the school. It is a voluntary position, and the council is
made up of parent, staff and other members.

Anyone with parental responsibility for a child at The Meadows Primary Academy can put themselves forward to be a Parent Academy Councillor. The time commitment for a Parent Academy Councillor will vary depending on their level of involvement, but attendance at 3 full AC meetings and 3 committee meetings per year is expected. These meetings are
normally held in the evenings around 5-7pm and usually on Wednesdays.

If you wish to be considered for the role, please complete and return the nomination form to the school office by 3pm on Monday 4th October. In the likely event that we receive multiple nominations, there will be an election where all parents will be able to vote on which nominee they would like as the Parent Academy Council representative. Therefore,
as well as returning your nomination form, please can you email a personal statement that would be sent out with the ballot papers, of no more than 500 words to office@tmpa.org.uk – marked for the attention of Miss James. This statement should provide some information about yourself and why you think you should be elected.

Canvassing: In the case of an election, canvassing is discouraged and any nominees will be expected to follow the election procedure (which will be issued to candidates separately).

If you would like more information about the position, please feel free to speak to Miss
James, Mrs Armstrong or myself.

Kind regards
Miss H Taylor
Head teacher
